The Supreme Court Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Civil Cases and the Supreme Court Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Criminal Cases have submitted to the Supreme Court a joint report proposing new criminal and civil jury instructions addressing juror qualifications and preliminary and closing instructions addressing juror use of electronic devices. The proposals to the civil instructions are to the anticipated reorganization of the standard jury instructions in civil cases as proposed in In Re: Standard Jury Instructions In Civil Cases - Report No. 09-01 (Reorganization of the Civil Jury Instructions), No. SC09-284. The court invites all interested persons to comment on the committees' proposals, which are reproduced in full below, as well as online at www.floridasupremecourt.org/decisions/proposed.shtml. An original and nine paper copies of all comments must be filed with the court on or before March 17, with a certificate of service verifying that a copy has been served on Judge Lisa T. Munyon, the Criminal Instructions Committee Chair, Ninth Judicial Circuit, 425 N. Orange Ave., Orlando 32801, c/o Les Garringer, Office ofthe General Counsel, 500 S. Duval Street, Tallahassee 32399-1925, and/or, as applicable, Tracy Raffles Gunn, Civil Instructions Committee Chair 777 S. Harbour Island Blvd, Ste. 770, Tampa 33602. A separate request for oral argument should accompany the comment if the person filing the comment wishes to participate in oral argument, which may be scheduled in this case. The chairs have until April 7 to file a response to any comments filed with the court. Electronic copies of all comments also must be filed in accordance with the Court's Administrative Order In Re: Mandatory Submission of Electronic Copies of Documents, Fla. Admin.
